September 21st is Teacher Solidarity Day. By now you should have received lapel pins from your building reps to commemorate this day.
CEA has heard teachers’ concerns about the top-down policies that hurt the teaching profession. Working with our members, we want to restore a climate of trust where teachers’ voices are respected. We think you’ll agree there’s too much scapegoating of teachers. There are too many non-teachers telling educators how to teach. And there are too many people promising silver bullets, while ignoring the complexities of teaching and learning. Teachers should be respected for what they do and what they know. It’s a simple as that. It’s why it’s time to take back our profession. Association leaders and CEA staff will be developing key activities this fall and through the new year to organize members to join our nascent, but growing, movement to take back our profession.
